Father/Son Campout

Last night was our Father/Son Campout. We camped on the new property our stake bought to build our new stake building on. Our Stake President, Tom Carver, spoke about our camping this time every year as this was the time that the Prophet Joseph Smith received the Priesthood. I didn't know about that. They said it was symbolic to help us remember it and think about it. Papa said he learned something new too as he didn't know that!

My newest cousin, Lance, got to come with Dad, Brock and me. His dad couldn't come because he had to work. We passed the football and had a lot of fun and then had hotdogs before we heard Pres. Carver speak. We put our tents up and slept in our bedrolls. The weatherman said it might rain, but it didn't. It just got so windy during the night that the tents blew over and we had to come home at 3 in the morning. We still had fun even if we had to miss breakfast.

Hey Brendon, sounds like yall had a fun time. I am glad you got to go. I used to enjoy campouts with my dad...in the den. Ha! I do remember a few camping trips where we sang to the guitar and it rained on us. We had a big brown tent and cots. Aunt Kimmy used to organize my cot..my space...with my pillow, blanket, and bag. Sho fun! And don't you just love listenig to Brother Carver speak. What a great man. :)

What a fun thing to do with the guys, Brendon! It's too bad that you had to go home early, but at least you had fun before you had to leave. That is very cool about the fact about Joseph Smith!

Brendon, I think it's great that you have this to remember...especially the reason for camping and the focus on Joseph Smith receiving the Priesthood. That "power of God" here on earth today is a blessing for all of us and you will hold that Priesthood soon...just 2 more years! Always be valiant in keeping the commandments, so that you are worthy to bless your family and others. Your Mimi loves you!
